National Service Scheme (NSS) IIT Kharagpur

A free health check-up camp was organized by NSS Unit-8 at Balarampur on April 1, 2017 for the women and girl students of Balarampur to create awareness on the need for better health facilities for growing teenagers and promote healthy lifestyle in the long run regarding common ailments, nutrition and hygiene and sanitation .   Nearly 90 women were served by 5 doctors.   While checking girls of about 13 years of age, the doctors provided counselling about potential health and hygiene issues.   Students were prescribed appropriate medications for their health issues which included hematinic, antibiotics and anti-helminthic medications. Sholadahar Medical Camp, October 29, 2016   Unit 15 organized a Health Camp on Octiber 29, 2016 at the Shishu Shiksha Kendra, Sholadahar.   Forty-one villagers were treated at the Camp by Doctors Yatinder Bhutania, Kshitij Kumar and Shanmukha – post graduate students of School of Medical Science and Technology (SMST), IIT Kharagpur – and Professor Nishant Chakravorty, also of SMST and Program Officer of Unit 8 of NSS, IIT Kharagpur.   They also dispensed free medicine samples they had and medicines collected by Unit 15 volunteers.   Doctors NK Som and Nitin Gude of BC Roy Technology Hospital of IIT Kharagpur also helped by providing their free Medicine samples for distribution at the camp.   Mrs Shipra Roy – a school teacher and Panchayat Member – actively participated in organizing and conducting the program.   Professors G Saha, DK Swain, Dr RK Rawat and MP Rajak dropped by to encourage the volunteers of Unit 15 and attending physicians.  ...
