Medical Camp
Sholadahar Medical Camp, October 29, 2016
Unit 15 organized a Health Camp on Octiber
29, 2016 at the Shishu Shiksha Kendra, Sholadahar. Forty-one villagers were treated at the Camp
by Doctors Yatinder Bhutania, Kshitij Kumar and Shanmukha – post graduate
students of School of Medical Science and Technology (SMST), IIT Kharagpur –
and Professor Nishant Chakravorty, also of SMST and Program Officer of Unit 8
of NSS, IIT Kharagpur. They also
dispensed free medicine samples they had and medicines collected by Unit 15
volunteers. Doctors NK Som and Nitin
Gude of BC Roy Technology Hospital of IIT Kharagpur also helped by providing
their free Medicine samples for distribution at the camp. Mrs Shipra Roy – a school teacher and
Panchayat Member – actively participated in organizing and conducting the
program. Professors G Saha, DK Swain, Dr
RK Rawat and MP Rajak dropped by to encourage the volunteers of Unit 15 and
attending physicians.
Ayma Medical Camp, November 5, 2016
NSS Unit 10 organised a medical camp at Ayma village in the
premises of Chhattisgarh H.S. School on Nov 5, 2016. Around 100 residents were treated at the camp
and medicines worth of Rs 1600 were dispensed free of charge.
Doctors Soundarajan and Shanmukha of School of Medical Science and Technology (SMST),
IIT Kharagpur spent a whole working day at the camp treating the locals. Mr N Shankar Rao, ex-teacher of Chhattisgarh
High School, and Ranjeet Rana and Mr Aloke Sinha, teacher and principal of the
sane school, are to be thanked for their help in organizing the event.
The doctors attending the camp were of the opinion that major problems among those
treated at the camp were malnutrition and alcohol and chewing tobacco use.
