Blood Donation Camp : On 1st May at Staff Club

We are happy to learn that a Blood Donation Camp is arranged on 1st May, 2011 at Staff Club, IIT Kharagpur (Opposite to Tech. Market, SBI ATM side). The same team of doctors and staffs from nearby Blood Bank of Sub-Divisional Hospital, Kharagpur will be visiting. The camp starts at 8:00 AM and will continue up to 2:30 PM. This is arranged by our beloved staff members of IIT Kharagpur. We are humbled by their gracious gesture to seek 'active support' of NSS, IIT Kharagpur.

It is widely circulated in press and other media that most of the blood banks are currently running dry. In the 3rd April, 2011 blood donation camp, we found that many of the blood donors were made to return as the limit of the number of units that can be preserved in the blood bank was reached.

Here is another opportunity to come forward to this noble cause and participate in this voluntary blood donation camp. All are requested to spread the message. For Frequently Asked Questions and / or 'Dos and Don'ts' on blood donation, please visit earlier posts of this blog.

A certificate from State Blood Transfusion Cell, Govt. of West Bengal will be given to every donor acknowledging the contribution. Also a donor will get credit card against his / her name with a validity of one year.

One caution. Since the exam. will be over by that time, many students have already planned their journey by now. If the travel is around 1st May, we would suggest student donors to give it a miss this time. We shall try to provide another opportunity in near future based on the suggestion / scarcity at the blood bank.
