Avik Mahto Memorial Prize

Avik Mahto, a class V student from Porapara village passed away on February 8, 2014 at an early age of 10 years.  He was suffering from bone marrow complications.  The problem was detected only in late 2013 and by that time the disease had reached an advanced stage. Since 2010, he was a regular participant of the weekend classes run by NSS, IIT Kharagpur Unit 4 volunteers at Porapara. We deeply mourn the loss of Avik and pray that his soul rests in peace. Volunteers of Unit 4 have come forward with a total contribution of Rs. 12,500.00 from themselves for instituting an annual prize of Rs1000.00 in Avik’s memory. This is to be awarded to the best class V student of Saraswati Shishu Mandir, Gopali Ashram, Salua; the school Avik last attended.
