National Service Scheme (NSS) IIT Kharagpur

Sholadahar Medical Camp, October 29, 2016   Unit 15 organized a Health Camp on Octiber 29, 2016 at the Shishu Shiksha Kendra, Sholadahar.   Forty-one villagers were treated at the Camp by Doctors Yatinder Bhutania, Kshitij Kumar and Shanmukha – post graduate students of School of Medical Science and Technology (SMST), IIT Kharagpur – and Professor Nishant Chakravorty, also of SMST and Program Officer of Unit 8 of NSS, IIT Kharagpur.   They also dispensed free medicine samples they had and medicines collected by Unit 15 volunteers.   Doctors NK Som and Nitin Gude of BC Roy Technology Hospital of IIT Kharagpur also helped by providing their free Medicine samples for distribution at the camp.   Mrs Shipra Roy – a school teacher and Panchayat Member – actively participated in organizing and conducting the program.   Professors G Saha, DK Swain, Dr RK Rawat and MP Rajak dropped by to encourage the volunteers of Unit 15 and attending physicians.  ...

This year's 7 day long Annual Camp started on 27-11-2013 in the school compound of Chattisgarh High School. This is situated near the biggest slum in our neighbourhood. The place is called Ayma. Five hundred first year undergraduate students of IIT Kharagpur are attending it. Seventeen faculty members are supervising them. There are tremendous goodwill and cooperation from local community leaders. The prominent among them were present in the inauguration function. All, including local councilors, school headmasters were very appreciative of NSS, IIT Kharagpur and the NSS Unit working in that area in their speech. NSS team thanked them and and look forward to life-building training experience in this one week long camp. Here are some pictures of inauguration and breakfast that followed.

Annual Sports at Chhatishgarh High School: It is a great experience for all the members of UNIT 10 who are working in Chattisgarh High School,  Ayma to be a part of their ANNUAL SPORTS MEET held on January 26, 2013. Various sports activities of the school have started one week before for all classes giving opportunity to every one of the school. The finals were held on Republic Day for events that include Running, Skipping, Hurdles ,Long jump, High jump etc. The tiffin race for kids was one of the game that attracted many students, teachers and community of the village. The final sport events have started at 12 noon. The Principal of the school Sri Alok Sinha and senior most teacher  Shankar Sir welcomed the various council members.  The program was attended by NSS CO-ORDINATOR Prof. Goutam Saha and Programme Officer Prof. N.D.Pradeep Singh.
