National Service Scheme (NSS) IIT Kharagpur

Roadwork at Purba Shikarpari (units 9 and 12), Library area of Banpatna (unit 11) and Dakshin Banpatna (units 10, 13, 14 and 15) should have gotten a tremendous boost with the delivery of an additional 6 wheel barrows although the impact was somewhat nullified by an unusual obsession of several units (including unit 1 working at Seva Dal and units 2 and 4 working at Raghunathpur) with street play ( nukkad ) rehearsal. Unit 11 of NSS, IIT Kharagpur conducted a medical camp at Talbagicha High School on 23-08-2014. This school caters to mostly the underprivileged community where both parents need to earn to maintain their livelihood and as daily wage earners. The school is not only the source of inspiration for the school children but also an important part of their support system to look for a brighter tomorrow. NSS team is engaged with this school for long. The 'Vivekdisha' program ( Link ) is run successfully with the help of Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda University and this was facilitated by NSS. The student volunteers every week engages with the school children and time to time comes up with special activities like this medical camp.
