National Service Scheme (NSS) IIT Kharagpur

NSS IIT Kharagpur, UNIT 6 works in the village named Gholgharia, about 4 KM from IIT Kharagpur campus. We first present some pictures that gives an overview of the activities from 08-08-2015 to 05-09-2015 and then the weekly report. The activities centered around plantation, cleaning, teaching and survey. The survey statistics presented below in the form of plots is interesting. 08-08-2015 Plantation The plantation team watered the plants and worked cooperatively despite the heat. All the NSS volunteers were fully energized. They were given the task to sow the saplings and water the plants which were planted already. School staff were pleased to see their hard work Cleaning The cleaning team started their work of cleaning the classrooms. The team members began with the class room beside the assembly place followed by the other one and then the store house. This is in continuation of previous two posts (Part I  Link  and Part II Link ). In this Part III, we go back to our school based activities where we have arranged about 50 scholarships for students of village / slum schools, conducted various competitions like drawing, sports and distributed prizes etc. In addition, we also provided educational material and furniture for better experience in village school environment.  This is the concluding post of the three part series in welcoming freshers who join IIT Kharagpur in the new academic session. This series shows the range of activities NSS, IIT Kharagpur took up in previous semester.  There are other previously published posts in this blog where certain activities can be found in greater details. We reiterate, w hile NSS team, in some sense, provides the last mile connectivity to our neighbourhood villages and slums, it is the collective goodwill of larger IIT Kharagpur community that get channelized through us....

Day 4 of NSS, IIT Kharagpur Annual Camp at Balarampur village under Changual gram panchayat continued the road building work. Local people continued to help us. It has been a great experience where doing work together in a team with fellow friends is more of a fun. It is also an ennobling experience. In the second half, we had Nukkad (street play) performed by different units on social awareness theme. Here are few pictures and videos that capture certain moments of the day.
