Celebration of NSS Day (2014) @ IIT KGP

This time we celebrated NSS Day on November 15, 2014 in Kalidas Auditorium, IIT KGP. Due to the mid-semester examination and vacation after mid-sem,  we were not able to celebrate the NSS Day on September 24, 2014. However the program started by a welcome note. The chief guest of the program was our  Dean, Student Affairs, Professor N. R. Mandal. Prof. Mandal has addressed the NSS volunteers and the audience and presented the Prerana Scholarship (mainly funded by ex- NSS volunteers), Chandrasekhar Yadala Memorial Scholarship ( funded by Prof. Jacob Chako and his students and staffs)  and Avik Mahato Memorial Scholarship to the school kids.

Cultural program has started after distribution of the scholarships among the recipients. School students from Primary schools and high schools where NSS volunteers are going to teach regularly have performed dances, recitations.

At the end of the program, prizes were given to winners of the drawing competition and extempore conducted by Unit 11 in Talbagicha High School on National Unity Day (National Unity Day). Professor Goutam Saha has distributed the prizes among the recipients.

The program was successfully run by the special efforts of NSS volunteers Abhimanyu Das, Anjali Agarwal, Anjan Khanra, Neha Banerjee, Subham Kumar, Sanjay Kumar Nayak and Hemant Bhambu,. We are thankful to the volunteers who brought the school kids from their villages to the auditorium.

On behalf of NSS team IIT Kharagpur, we are thankful to  Dean (SA), Prof. N. R. Mandal, Prof. Goutam Saha for their presence and for motivating the NSS volunteers and participant school kids. We are also thankful to the supporting staff of Kalidas Auditorium. Special thanks to Master Dipyaman Roy, a campus kid, who has taken most of the photographs and videos of the program.
