NSS Annual Camp 2016, Khelar, Kharagpur I

508 boys and 40 girls mainly from the first two years of the undergraduate program of IIT Kharagpur are to participate in NSS Annual Camp between November 30 and December 6, 2016 at Khelar Panchayat Office premises and adjacent playgrounds in Kharagpur I.  The camp shall be inaugurated by the Registrar, IIT Kharagpur on November 30.  Khelar Anchal Pradhan and other officials of the local government are expected to be present at the inauguration program.  A number of distinguished members of the society are expected to be at the camp site on other days of the camp. 

The participants should fill up the form at the end of this post for the records of NSS, IIT Kharagpur.  The form needs to be submitted at the time they report for the camp on November 30.  In order to ensure personal safety and comfort and prevent potential injury, each participant has to report in appropriate attire (trousers and shirts, cap/hat and covered shoes, for instance).  The participants have to board buses sharp at 6:30a from in front of TSG in IIT Campus for the  daily 16-km commute to the camp site.  Sticking to discipline and schedule will be of paramount importance.  Since the participants will be the face of an institute as eminent as IIT Kharagpur, their conduct needs to be absolutely impeccable and exemplary. 

After finishing breakfast at the camp site by 8:30a, the volunteers are to get busy with area survey (on Nov 30) or physical work (shramdaan) from Dec 1 to Dec 6 to fix the local roads, drainage ditches and other infrastructure.  They are to return to the camp site by 1:00p, finish lunch by 2:00p and participate in afternoon program listed below.  Participants shall depart from the camp site by 4:30p by buses to be provided by the Institute.  The volunteers (students) are to maintain a diary summarizing their work of the previous day (pictures to be included in the summary as appropriate) at the time of their arrival at camp site on the following day for evaluation by NSS officials and their representatives.

Program

1.   Awareness rally: 2:00p to 4:00p, Nov 28 at Khelar area.  The rally is to announce the camp programs and sensitize them on social issues.  Task for each unit is to come prepared with at least 4 placards on themes of social relevance and patriotism.

2.   Shramdaan: 8:00a to 12:30p, Dec 2-6; road and ditch repair at Khelar, Banpatna and surrounding area

3.   Training on First Aid and Disaster Management: 1:30p to 4:30p on Dec 1 and Dec 2 at play grounds in front of Khelar Panchayat Office premises

4.   Sustainable agriculture workshop: 11:00a to d 4:00p, Dec 3 at Khelar Panchayat Office premises

5.   Health check up camp: 11:30p to 3:30p, Dec 3 at Khelar Panchayat Office premises

6.   Used clothes, toys and books distribution on 1:30p to d 4:30p, Dec 3 at play ground in front of Khelar Panchayat Office premises

7.   Valediction and prize distribution between 1:30p to 4:30p, Dec 4 at the play ground in front of Khelar Panchayat Office premises.
