National Service Scheme (NSS) IIT Kharagpur

This is in continuation of previous two posts (Part I  Link  and Part II Link ). In this Part III, we go back to our school based activities where we have arranged about 50 scholarships for students of village / slum schools, conducted various competitions like drawing, sports and distributed prizes etc. In addition, we also provided educational material and furniture for better experience in village school environment.  This is the concluding post of the three part series in welcoming freshers who join IIT Kharagpur in the new academic session. This series shows the range of activities NSS, IIT Kharagpur took up in previous semester.  There are other previously published posts in this blog where certain activities can be found in greater details. We reiterate, w hile NSS team, in some sense, provides the last mile connectivity to our neighbourhood villages and slums, it is the collective goodwill of larger IIT Kharagpur community that get channelized through us....

Annual Sports at Chhatishgarh High School: It is a great experience for all the members of UNIT 10 who are working in Chattisgarh High School,  Ayma to be a part of their ANNUAL SPORTS MEET held on January 26, 2013. Various sports activities of the school have started one week before for all classes giving opportunity to every one of the school. The finals were held on Republic Day for events that include Running, Skipping, Hurdles ,Long jump, High jump etc. The tiffin race for kids was one of the game that attracted many students, teachers and community of the village. The final sport events have started at 12 noon. The Principal of the school Sri Alok Sinha and senior most teacher  Shankar Sir welcomed the various council members.  The program was attended by NSS CO-ORDINATOR Prof. Goutam Saha and Programme Officer Prof. N.D.Pradeep Singh. The guests distributed the prizes to all the winners. The sports have brought in the children a lot of enthusia...

In the second half of the 26th January, 2012 one unit of NSS, IIT Kharagpur and NSS Coordinator was invited in the Annual Sports function of a local High School situated in a slum area, serving mostly the underprivileged. A report, prepared by student group leader on the event, follows. It's a grand event celebrated on the eve of REPUBLIC DAY to see hundred's of children playing. The Chattisgarh high school of  AYMA conducted many exciting events for the student's conducting a two day sports meet. Children's of all age participated enthusiastically bringing out their inner talents and energy. The school on it's first day       (25-01-2012) conducted events like kabaddi, kho-kho etc... for it's higher class children. Many athletic events like long jump, high jump, shot put etc.. are also conducted. The students are filled with joy and happiness to play with their friend's. It's a competition to win and at the same time enjoying the joy of playing. ...
