Annual Camp 2012 : Part II

Here are few pictures of camp activities. This is in continuation of pictures posted in this blog in our earlier post titled "Annual Camp : Part I" (Link). The first three pictures of this post is followed by a series, describing activities of campers on 03rd December.

That day in the first session, March Past was presented by every group for which they rehearsed in the preceding evenings. In the second session, a rally was carried out where "World Disability Day" was the main theme.

We had a 1992 alumnus present in annual camp in this session. He was on his way to participate Pan IIT meet at Kolkata (Link) and was pleased to see the work carried out by young IITians. We discussed if from discourses in Pan IIT meet can emerge outcome based goals where villages around IIT Kharagpur within 5 KM radius, first betters the national average in development indices like infant mortality, mother-child health, school drop out etc. and then target becoming the best in the country in all development parameters.

We also discussed how young IIT students can work in such an initiative as a part of their NSS engagement and gain from the experience. Also, the NSS team has established a foot print in 15 neighbouring villages and there is a cordial relation with elected representatives like Panchayet, Panchayet Pradhan and also administrative heads like SDO, BDO etc. The visitor appreciated it and also opined that the delivery cost will be nearly zero in such effort. We hope to work together with our alumni and contribute the best way possible. Thanks to support of our Alumni Office, we could distribute 6 sewing machines to self-help women groups of three neighbouring villages and now their training is being organized. Our sincere thanks for the support, encouragement we receive from larger IIT community.

The last picture is taken at 8 AM. This shows the posters prepared by campers which were put up later in S N Bose Auditorium for the institute function on "World Disability Day".
