Republic Day, 2014

Our NSS, IIT Kharagpur joined to celebrate the sixty fifth Republic Day with rest IIT Kharagpur community. The flag-hoisting ceremony was held in Jnan Ghosh Stadium. The National Flag was unfolded by Prof. Souvik Bhattacharyya, Director (acting), and the ceremony was followed by playing of our National Anthem "Jana Gana Mana". Prof. Bhattacharyya then inspected the NCC wings and addressed the gatherings. The parades by NCC cadets  took place in the stadium. Later students of campus schools performed patriotic program as tribute to our motherland, INDIA.
NCC air wings and students of Aerospace Engineering Department of the institute performed air show on this occasion. Our NSS team attended the entire program and extended the services to arrange chairs, to distribute the NSS Newsletter "Anuraag" and food packets to the guests. The program was ended around 10 o'clock in the morning by singing the National song "Vande Mataram".

Institute annual festival "Spring fest" was going on from January 23 (evening) to January 26 (evening) this year. For most of the NSS volunteers this is the first  "fest" at IIT so they were busy in various activities in "Spring fest". In spite of their activities in "spring fest" most of them were assembled in the Jnan Ghosh Stadium by 7:30 A.M. and help to organize the events. This is the true spirit of our volunteers ("Not me, but you").

"Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high;
Where knowledge is free;
Where the world has not been broken up into fragments by domestic walls;
Where words come out from the depth of truth;
Where tireless striving stretches its arms towards perfection;
Where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way into the dreary desert sand of dead habit;
Where the mind is led forward by thee into ever-widening thought and action–
Into that heaven of freedom, my father, let my country awake."
~  Rabindranath Tagore
